Caraway is a biennial herb.

The flowers are white with a tinge of pink. The stems are hollow like a succulent.

Caraway is a great companion plant to peas and strawberries but not with fennel and dill.

Rotate crop to prevent the attack of carrot root fly. Collect seed heads before caraway invades your garden.

Seed from caraway is used in cakes and bread and herbal teas. Fresh leaves are used in salads and soups. Caraway has a mild aniseed flavour. Steam roots as a vegetable. Caraway is a mild remedy for coughs and to relieve colic.
